CHICAGO — State Senator Michael E. Hastings has been selected to serve on the Advisory Committee supporting Judge Charlie Beach as he transitions into his role as Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County.
“It is a tremendous honor to be asked to serve on this Advisory Committee,” said Hastings (D-Frankfort). “Judge Charlie Beach is a leader of integrity and vision who has earned the trust of his colleagues and our community. I am proud to call Charlie a friend, and I know that under his leadership, Cook County’s courts will continue to uphold the highest standards of justice.”
The Advisory Committee brings together judges, justice partners, community leaders, and policy experts to help shape early administrative and operational priorities under Chief Judge Beach’s leadership. The transition structure is designed to reflect the values of good governance, open communication, data driven decision making and integrity, ensuring that the new administration begins with clear priorities and inclusive input from across the judicial system.
Hastings’ appointment reflects his years of service as a legislator, his career as an attorney, and his extensive experience working with the judicial branch of government.
“As someone who has dedicated my career to public service, whether in the military, in the law, or in the legislature, I see this opportunity as another way to strengthen our institutions and ensure that justice is carried out in a way that respects and serves every resident of Cook County,” said Hastings.
Hastings also acknowledged the legacy of Chief Judge Tim Evans, who has served the court with distinction for decades.
“Judge Evans guided the court system through some of the most difficult challenges in its history,” said Hastings. “He is a good man, and I thank him for his leadership and wish him well in the next chapter of his service.”
Beach’s appointment as Chief Judge represents a moment of renewal and responsibility for the court system. With priorities such as judicial safety, modernization of court procedures, and strengthening public trust, Hastings believes the Advisory Committee’s work will help set the tone for the years ahead.
